BioD in Bangladesh

When it comes to climate change, Bangladesh is ranked the most vulnerable country in the world. It is also one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with about 160 million people living in just 57,000 square miles.

With over 50% of its people having easy access to cell phones, and most of its land populated with people, Bangladesh offers an ideal case study for public engagement in the protection of biodiversity.

In its effort to help increase public and scientific engagement, Project BioD has begun work with its partners in Bangladesh on a series of biodiversity initiatives — from reviewing and digitalizing the existing information, to conducting cell-phone based surveys and educational programs.

Bangladesh Biodiversity Experts Group: A panel of the country’s leading experts in biodiversity have come together to lead Project BioD’s latest efforts in biodiversity conservation, including a literature review of Bangladesh’s existing sources of information.
